Animal Caregiver

Looking for a highly motivated, dedicated individual, interested in joining the Animal Care Operations at our facility.  Work with like-minded individuals that are committed to the highest care and well being of our rescued animals.  This position will have a possibility of a full time position at the end of the internship.

Qualifications:

  • Experience in animal care, preferably at a sanctuary.

  • Excellent communication skills.

  • Able to take instruction on how to care for animals.

  • Able to oversee volunteers.

  • Able to prioritize effectively.

  • Able to understand and follow medical directions.

  • Excellent animal behavior observation skills

  • Excellent research skills.

  • Must be able to think outside the box and treat all animals on an individual level.

  • Able to work effectively and compassionately with all personality types.

  • Able to keep cool in medical emergencies.

  • Able to work in all weather conditions and be able to perform strenuous   tasks.

  • Must be able to lift a minimum of 50lbs.

  • Must be very reliable and dependable.

  • Excellent record keeping skills

  • Able to participate in a variety of organizational programs to better the     welfare of our animals

  • Team player who is able to monitor and report on all shelter staff duties

  • A commitment to Tamerlaine Farm’s animal care policies.

  • Passionate about animal welfare.

  •  Able to handle emotional situations dealing with animals.

  • Able to live in a group environment.

  •  Must live a vegan lifestyle while on the farm.

  •  Interested in growing with a small sanctuary and help to expand our animal caretaking operations.

  • Must have a valid drivers license.

 Responsibilities: 

  •  All animal care operations.

  • Work with and train Volunteers.

  • Daily animal heath care and treatments.

  • Documenting all animal health care checks, treatments, vaccinations, worming, medical histories etc.

  • Barn and habitat cleaning and enrichment.

  • Perform treatments and therapies for special care animals.

  • Travel with animals to veterinary appointments.

  • Work with founders to come up with the best care program possible for the animals.

SOCIAL MEDIA INTERN

We are looking for an intern to help us build relationships with the general public and targeted groups through social media, fundraising and various projects.  The Social Media Intern will support Tamerlaine Farm Animal Sanctuary’s mission of rescuing, housing and caring for abandoned, abused and neglected factory farmed animals. The intern will be exposed to all functions of the farm and our practices. We are looking for a motivated, creative person with experience in social media and farm animal rescue that has fresh ideas and is excited to help us educate the world about Tamerlaine Farm Animal Sanctuary.

Skills Required

  • Must be proficient in Dropbox, Facebook, Twitter, Instagram,  Pinterest, Tumblr, Youtube, Google+, Outlook, Microsoft Office and Excel, PC and Mac.

  •  General knowledge of Squarespace and Photoshop.

  • Ability to create long and short form copy that makes an impact on various social media platforms.

  • Must be confident and comfortable working in a public setting at our outreach events.

  • Detail oriented and dedicated to high-quality, organized thoughtful work.

  •  Willingness and comfort in asking for help when necessary.

  • Able to accept constructive criticism and confidence in expressing ideas.

  • Must own smart or iphone and standard format computer (desktop/laptop/notebook/pad).

Duties:

  • Convey our mission in a meaningful and articulate way.

  • Maintain and update our website.

  • Plan, execute and track social media campaigns.

  • Maintain email capture.

  • Maintain and Communicate with our volunteer list.

  • Create and execute email blasts and bi-monthly newsletter to subscribers.

  • Create and maintain spreadsheets.

  • Maintain a monthly blog documenting your experience on the Tamerlaine Farm Animal Sanctuary site.

NON-PROFIT SALES AND MARKETING INTERN

We are looking for an energetic and passionate intern to help us build relationships with the general public and targeted groups related to animal charities and non-profits.  The non-profit sales and marketing intern will support Tamerlaine Farm Animal Sanctuary’s mission of rescuing, housing and caring for abandoned, abused and neglected factory farmed animals by building community networks, participating in outreach events, researching new sources of funding and soliciting in-kind donations.  We also have a line of hot sauce that we sell to the public and are looking for creative ways to promote our brand in vegan markets and beyond.

Skills Desired:

  • Ability to trouble-shoot problems and take necessary steps to remedy them.

  •  Independently motivated. Experience working without regular oversight.

  • Ability to work and communicate as part of a team.

  • Previous volunteer or classroom experience with non-profits.

  •  Detail oriented and dedicated to high-quality, thoughtful work.

  •  Positive attitude and excellent oral and written communication skills.

  • Clean, tidy approach to management activities.

  • Able to accept constructive criticism and confidence in expressing ideas.

  • Willingness and comfort in asking for help when necessary. 

Duties:

  • Research new sources of funding that align with the Tamerlaine Animal Farm   Sanctuary mission.

  • Convey our mission in a meaningful and articulate way.

  • Represent Tamerlaine Animal Farm Sanctuary at outreach and community events, markets and any other venues that will promote and benefit our cause.

  • Develop and maintain marketing and outreach materials.

  • Assist in fundraising campaigns and events.

  • Solicit donations of money, products and volunteers' time.

  • Source potential avenues in which to receive grant money.
